With four students in the house, including myself, this year we've advanced to four schools and four school schedules. The first of us begins next Wednesday; the last of us goes back on the 31st. In any event our lazy summer days are quickly heading to an end. But I don't wan't to talk about early mornings and getting organized and meal planning. Not yet. Today I want to stay in this sunny, breezy, slow-paced moment and arrange as much calm and as much fun for whatever free-time remains.
Whether you've still got days at the pool or are searching for school supplies before the cute stuff is gone, here are some links for you to enjoy.
Favorite Reads:
One day, not that long ago, I found myself wondering: What do people daydream about? And Google was kind enough to lead me to this location for an answer. :)
An interesting perspective on the effects of media and taking a break, Media Cleansing for Writers is a great read even if you're not a writer. "As we all know, anesthetizing ourselves from our overwhelm and anxiety with Netflix or ice cream or reading or sex rarely satiates for long."
Erin Stutland has been featured all over the place and, as far as I know, it's primarily because she is a pro at lifestyle and fitness and has a cool program Shrink Session: Tone Your Body, Expand Your Mind. HOWEVER, I love her most for her blog. Among other things, she is also a life coach and mentor. Her post today was titled: I Am The Master of My Fate. That alone intrigued me, but what really stuck was when she says to ask yourself the question: "Will this thing GIVE me energy or DRAIN my energy?" (which is worthy of an entire blog post itself.) Instead of listening to my continued ramblings, just read her for yourself. You'll likely keep scrolling and scrolling.....
Saw. Ate. Went to Heaven.:
At first sight I knew I wanted to try these slightly labor-intensive BBQ Bacon Meatball Onion Bombs. Thankfully, my awesome sister-in-law made them and invited us over so I got to enjoy without the laboring. Ours were more saucy than the picture and were AMAZING. I think some of the kids even ate the onion part, but I couldn't say for sure because I was busy working on my second plate.
I shared these on my Facebook page this week, but have to add them in here, too. How can you go wrong with peanut butter Rice Krispie treats topped with caramel and chocolate? You can't! These Whatchamacallit Krispie Treats disappeared in a jiffy.
Family & Fun:
I admire Jennifer from The Deliberate Mom. Along with parenting, she also writes about homeschooling and her Christian faith. Check this if you feel like,"Some days I do a lot for my children but I've done nothing with them." 30 Ways to Connect with Your Child
This summer may be coming to a close, but I'm already thinking on how to enjoy the next one. I saw this video on Facebook and it was labeled The Most Fun You Can Have. Mark my words: I will be hosting this for my family and friends next summer and I can't wait!
Thanks for stopping by!

I'd love to see you there.
