*I'm linking up with Mama Kat's World Famous Writer's Workshop with #6:
"The best part of my day is..."
Age 7+:
... staying up laaaate reading Every. Single. Night. No, I don't hide under the covers with a flashlight! (my parent's would see that!) I curl up inside my flannel nightgown and huddle on the floor next to my nightlight.
Age 12:
... after school when I stretch out the spiral cord of the kitchen phone all the way down the hall so I can three-way call my friends from the privacy of my bedroom. Duh.
Age 14:
... Saturday afternoon when my mom drops me and my friends off at the skating rink. It's four whole hours of No Overprotective Parents Allowed! (I hope my Mom is making something good for dinner.) Peace, Love, and Happiness Forever!!!
Age 16:
... 5th period Human Biology when I daydream about that SUPER HOT GUY that works with my best friend. (He's 19!!) My friend is jealous because he thinks I'm cute and he doesn't flirt with her! Will he ever ask me out? Like, on a real date??
Age 18:
... 10pm Friday night. I crashed after school, changed clothes three times, answered my pager to coordinate plans and it's FINALLY time to head out and meet all my friends at the dance club. (It's "High School Night" but college guys will still be there!)
Age 22:
... nap time! I'm so tired by the afternoon because my sweet baby is a just over a year old and I'm pregnant with her sister. It's no problem though, because #1 is so calm. She just plays quietly with her toys while I nap. Parenting is tiring, but pretty easy. I don't know what everyone is talking about. Having a second child around is going to be a piece of cake!
Age 27:
... our family walk to the pond every evening. The weather is perfect. This summer is perfect. The kids are at magical ages (2, 5, and 6) and they aren't the only ones who are enchanted by the turtles, frogs, and ducks. I can't get enough of them either!
Age 36:
... hearing the happy chaos of adolescent voices competing to talk about their days. It's also the quiet bedtime moments of back rubbing for the girls. (At 13 & 15 they think they're too old to sit on my lap and be rocked!) And it's the chapter book reading with the boy who, at almost 11, still likes his Mama to read him a story.
